That is partly correct. However, Corporations cannot be tried for ‘crimes’ perpetrated on ‘citizens’, only citizens can be charged and tried for crimes. There is no criminal code in the USA which allows Corporations to be charged and tried for crimes. Thus there is no criminal penalty for being a Corporation, when […]

i can only explain american corporation law in terms of american law. not much of a piece of reasoning. but i have been a practicing
lawyer for 42 years and here is the factual and legal premise. do with it what you will.

The Supreme Court ruled corporations are legally people in the 19th century: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Clara_County_v._Southern_Pacific_Railroad
My understanding is that a corporation is just that, treating a business as a body (person) for legal purposes. The recent ruling was a nuance in interpretation.
