John Foster mentioned this recently to Tymp who I re-collect used to be
Ari(osto?):

John, as someone else has mentioned, the term is an-amnesis, the
not/un-forgetting, the Platonic technique that somewhat re-sembles
Heidegger’s step back (in order to move through and on), thinking the
unthought in an other’s thinking (un-thought as in un-dead, a recoverable
absent presence). Perhaps the transmigration of the soul is Plato’s metaphor
for this anamnesis… this a-crossing that conduits (crosses — trans) from
then to now to not-yet in the realm of thinking.
