Hi Michael,

Why would the German speakers know about English translations,
except, of course for M.E. who seems to know about everything? What
you need is an English speaker who fakes his German, thereby needing
a sufficiently competent translation to enable him to pass (an old
story with us, as you know). Especially useful in this regard is a
bilingual edition with facing pages by Stephen Mitchell. It would
seem that having the German and English side by side would give you
an earful, even an attuning earful, perhaps.
