Bernard:
It gives notice, however, that at the micro level of phenomena the macro
level of understanding, to which you appear to be limited, avoids the uncertainty
of existence.
Jud:
There IS NO ontological difference - the kooky *existence* does not exist -
only the objects exist - not *Their existence.*
Ah, dear Jud, your certainty is clearly wrought in over-compensated doubt.
Would that leave you as an object among objects and your only claim that you
exist? Peccato!
Bernard
Jud:
Yes Bernard, you likable rogue - like you I am only an object amongst other
objects. As to the need for a *claim* that I exist, there is no need for that.
The confused Descartes might have needed such reassurance, [being the
attenuated product of a theological factory farm) but not I. [or *me* depending upon
your grammatical appetite.]

Dear Jud;
A “claim” (that you exist) is not required if your raison d’ete excludes
uncertainty. Your certainty would then prevail as an ABSOLUTE, apodictic and
apriori certainty. Such absolutist or katophatic reckoning observes only what is
or what exists as opposed to the apophatic that uses the via negativa to affirm
what is by what it is not. The latter is thus concerned with non-being or
no-thing and is largely Eastern in origin and used as a method of affirmation.
But katophatic folk that comprise the West can only know what they know with
unmitigated certainty. Since, as you claim you are “only an object amongst
other objects” your katophatic certainty is grounded in homo qua homo Identity as
opposed to Difference that recognizes “the other” whether it be dialectically
simplistic as “what is not” or grounded in a complex of opposites. Since
Heidegger is a Johnny-come-lately in all of this it is understandable that he was
desperately attempting to break out of his collective identity (qua the
Germanic) katophatic certainty (of being) by use of da-sein. The totalitarian
tyranny of absolute katophatic certainty is obvious and perhaps one day you will be
able to navigate in the realm of object qua object difference.
Sincerely;
Bernard
