I have thought of you Allen, while reading in the early Aristotle GA.
Heidegger characterizes his own approach, interpreting Aristotle not from
tradition, but from a possible factual life situation, as hermeneutical.
“Putting the dark into the light.” Quoting Luther, the anti-Aristotelean.

Later, this is precisely turned upside down. Shortly: in the beginning
of the piece on Anaximander, it appears that pre-Socratic really
means pre-Aristotelean. The reason being that between us and Aristotle,
and a fortiori to the earlier, is Hegel. Without realising that, we
cannot understand the decisive narrowment of physis in Aristotle, with
respect to the earlier physiologoi.

Also the first two pages of Logos, on Heraklitus, are, for an introduction,
decisive. If, via Hegel and the dimension of dialectics, one would keep
in the eye the *problematic* of logos as dimension, then suddenly all
our “problems” would disappear. They cannot but be problems regarding
subject-object. But reading Aristotle very simply shows that he knows
nothing of subject and object. So..
