in the mood

“Verstehen ist immer gesimmtes,” translated by M. as “Understanding
always has its mood.” But some moods are clearer than others. Let’s
say I am in a particular neurotic mood. It is one of my own neurotic
moods which I know well. But even though I understand it, I of
course can’t control it. But suddenly, I have a change of mood to a
mood that is palpably clear(relatively speaking of course). It is
momentary, and then I slip back into the neurotic mood. But I can
remember/re-imagine the clarity, and so I can come back to it and
think there. Does this mean that thinking can be , in a way,
“objective,” that is free from one’s particular neurotic moods. To
me, it seems to be so.
