What about the thousands of Palestinian political prisoners held without charge? Remeber the Lebanese political prisoners held without charge? I guess the fact that the Israelis torture and beat to death children and teenagers in custody doesn’t get much attention in the American press. Have you forgotten that Israel has incessantly made incursions into Lebanon abducting and killing farmers on many occasions since the 2000 ‘withdrawal’? Gaza was never withdrawn from - it was first turned into rubble and then turned into a prison controlled in its entirety by the Israelis. They did this while continuing their expansionist policies in the West Bank and building their ’security wall’ - all of which have been condemned by the World Court as a clear and unambiguous violation of international law. Israel has on numerous occasions shot across the border in clear provocation. Also if a rocket is shot 100 feet from you house do you therefore believe that its justified to
sentence you to death along with you wife and children? Is this the demented ‘ethical calculus’ we are today faced with? The complete and utter idiotic belief that you can destroy Hezbollah once and for all through brute force - completely destroying the civilian infrastructure and killing 1000 civilians - is so misguided and delusional it can only spell more death, destruction and torment for many more generations. Undoubtedly another guerilla organization will be born out of this.
That Pete wrote: There was something called “land for peace”; Israel withdrew from Lebanon
and Gaza in exchange for peace? Remember that? Instead your mates moved
in and used the land to fire rockets at the “zionist entity”. Couldn’t
be disembowelled and dismembered and disconstructed fast enough if you
ask me.
