Untrue - or at least, contradictory.

Indeed, if (1.) were true, as it is true, then Philosophy cannot help,
because it happens to haunt each one of us humans far after than the time in which
(1.) has produced its evil effect.

Hi Antonio, Yes, you are right.

But first your essay - it is brilliant! I really enjoyed reading it and
found it interesting, informative and easy to read, for although you are dealing
in intellectually profound ideas, you have polished your writing techniches
and style to perfection one would not dream that your first langauge is
Italian. I found a few tiny mistakes [accept for one - too unimportant to mention]
and I have put them right. By the way. In *correct English the title is better
as: *Democracy or Fundamentalism: which Education Model?* rather than:
*Democracy or Fundamentalism: which education model?* Although it is now up on the
internet - I plan to go over it again with a fine toothcombe and check it
out for any more tiny glitches, perhaps you could look it over too when you
have time.

The paper is now in the Athenaeum Library along with the other Rossin Papers.

The reason I turned to philosophy for help, is that together with sociology
and possibly anthropology it seems the one of the few discipline that could
actually understand what we are talking about. I agree with your identification
of the mother as the prime familial component in all this, [because of the
father’s later involvement] and I have been thinking about ways in which they
could be motivated to change their own behaviour towards their child.

In Britain, only highly educated middle-class women would even know what
reification and dialectics is about, never mind about comprehending the damage
that such unconsciously and unwitting transcendentalist brainwashing does to a
child, and how it renders them vulnerable and open to the influence and
internalisation of the most dangerous religious, political and socially harmful
suggestions - all of which associations the mother herself would hate to see
her child mixed up in.

I wonder if it is even worthwhile attempting to *uninstall* such deeply
imprinted neuronal templates. Such attitudes formed in early infancy and youth
can be so deeply embedded, they provide the neurological entablature upon which
the whole of their world view is grounded.

THE POSTNATAL IMPRINTING OF INSTINCT?
The linguistically imprinted areas of the neuronal networks have for all
intents and purposes, become transformed into a human version of animal
instinct. Inherent predisposition and patterns of behaviour responsive to specific
stimuli dominate, and can even mechanically [automatically] override later
more common-sense data. Neuronal circuitry has become recursively looped like a
spooled telephone answering machine that provides pre-recorded messages to
the posterity and the outside world. [Krapp’s Last Tape?] My own view is that
the only way that the constantly self reinventing, tail-swallowing ouroboros of
generational parental psycho-social and semantic imprinting can be stopped
in its constant circular process of reificational transmission, is by
educating young mothers as to dangers of influencing their young ones with warped
ontological misrepresentation right from the start, via leaflets in postnatal
clinics and maybe the help sections of women’s magazines?

Have you ever thought of submitting yourself to any women’s journals as the
weekly writer of the *Ask the Doctor column? You certainly look the part with
your handsome face and bearded avuncular appearance together with your
neuroscientific background and family doctor experience would stand you in good
stead in securing an interesting and not too intrusive retirement pasttime?
It would be a pity if all of the vast experience went to waste, as such
advice prescribed to the usual *run of the mill* questions could include the
information that it is better if the child becomes aware that although her
mother loves her with all her heart – it is her loving mum that exists, and not
the abstraction ‘love’ itself. etc. The basics of your dialectical approach
could be introduced too.

Is such a nurturing innovation feasible? Is such a concept even intelligible
to the average mother? Would the religious brainwashing that most mothers
have already experienced allow them even to consider, never mind embarking on
such an approach? I think not. Most mothers would dismiss such a suggestion
out of hand, and reply that there was already enough for a mother to do
without having to watch her ontological Ps and Qs. [be careful of the way she
speaks]
and that handsome Pastor Perkins will be on TV soon - so *make it quick!*

No, I think that the only way that such an awareness of fetishism,
alienation, reification and objectification could be disseminated is via an eventual,
grudging academic acceptance of the danger of reificationalism, when perhaps
some of their own families or students have been murdered in the internecine
religious wars and home-grown religious terrorism? Perhaps that would
engender the neccessary top-down drifting or percolation of these ideas via the
usual cultural channels of social discussion and media involvement? Perhaps an
increase in the pressures upon the west via oil deprivation and guerilla
attacks from eastern reificationalists, which includes some great loss of life,
would lend some curiosity, credence and urgency to de-refication proposals?

THE ROCKING CHAIRS.
But such welcome improvements in nurturing in our homes and schools would
only benefit OUR home populations. In many of the eastern countries the young
are so deeply imprinted by the rigidly of the indoctrination methods. No d
eviation is allowed from a standard teaching method based upon *learning by
rote*, including the endless intonation of doctrinal scripts accompanied by the
reinforcing rhythmic rocking back and forward [characteristic of all religious
dancing) of the head, and sometimes the whole body. There is something utterly
alien and repulsive and un-human about sights one sees in the film-clips, of
little Jewish kids dressed in the ugly black [once considered *properous and
respectable* burgher clothing of the shtetles of mid-nineteenth century
Poland and the Baltic states. There you see them, mindlessly rocking backwards
and forwards during their brainwashing sessions and myth-injection séances. The
same can be said of the poor Moslem kids and the little Christian toddlers,
mouthing the words to eighteenth century hymns and flesh-crawling
improvisations imitations of secular pop-songs about a *loving God* with *Jesus is Cool*
lyrics, whilst tall building filled with screaming people crash to the
ground in clouds of dust, and whimpering Baghdad children lie in bloodied bandages
wondering what has happened to them, and why their little sisters body parts
are scattered over the road.

The dead and the damaged apart, one despairs of any hope that these
reificationally impaired creatures could ever be helped, for the techniques of mind
control, coercive persuasion, socio-psychic association and absorption into
the cloying everydayness of these mega-cults presents a major chunk out of each
day’s attendance at a Catholic, Jewish, Moslem or Right Wing Evangelist
school for any student.

The swaying captives nod their youth away. Each mumbled line a new-forged
link in their own reificational chains. There are no shadows on the wall - This
no Plato’s cave - the shadows form the darkened inside not the outer. The
curtains of cognitive-control are slowly drawn as each pitch of the head
intones a requiem for their freedom of spirit.

The reified ones? They have no chance of escape whilst their mind’s are
being programmed. And soon… suitably brominated - as adults and free to be
unfree, the ourobus will start to gnaw - their own children will be in the
rocking chairs … by God - they will see to that! Just you wait and see!
