Jud, You have re-invented Aristole’s concept of *energia* (qua *potentia,* *dynamis* and *morphe*) and what is already subsubscribed to in modern science. In the realm of psychology, Freud, for example, bypassed his original notion of libido (sexual energy) and spoke of *trieb* (drive) whereas Jung retains the term “instinct” as the vehicle for psychic energy. Significantly, *instigare* (instinct) means “to instigate.” “To strive” (conatus) is served in all of the above and I dare say it is a novel but welcome nominalism to indicate going somewhere (en-telos) and the final cause.
